The foundation of Elkin's band programs is the Concert Band. Participation in both semesters of concert band is encouraged for grades 9-12 students. Students may receive honors credit through auditions adjacent to the semester. Traditionally, the concert band performs twice in the fall and twice in the spring. There is no fee for Concert Band.  However, the Concert Band participates in an out-of-state comprehensive ratings festivals in the month of April. 

The Marching Ambassador's are a competitive marching band that allows students the opportunity to tell a story through music and drill on a football field. Marching Band is open to 8th-12th grade students after school in the fall and can be taken as a 5th period course with the opportunity for honors credit. The Marching Ambassador's compete locally and participate annually in Light Up Elkin and Jonesville's Chirstmas Parade.

The Color Guard is open to students interested in dance, choreography and movement. The color guard is vital part of the marching band and rehearses after school. Appointment to color guard is by audition only. Auditions are usually held in April or May.

Jazz Band is open to 8th-12 Grade During Smart Breakfast in the fall before school starts on Tuesday mornings. Students must play a traditional Jazz band Instrument or rhythm section instrument. Students are expected to learn the fundamentals of jazz and improvisation.

Percussion Ensemble

Percussion Ensemble meets in the Spring Semester on Tuesday mornings during smart breakfast before school. Percussion ensemble is open to any interested in performing using various percussion instruments.
